Mark A. Stevens, CFA, CFP
Executive Vice President, Chief Investment Officer

Mark A. Stevens

As President and Chief Investment Officer of ATCapital Management, Mark is responsible for guiding the activity of the firm, including the development of investment strategies, products and services. Mark coordinates the asset allocation strategy for the ATDynamic and ATTrend investment strategies as well as manages the ATSelect Equity, Balanced, and Mid-cap portfolios.  He is also a member of ATCapital Management’s Board of Directors.

Mark has over 29 years of experience developing hybrid platforms that include both proprietary investment solutions and actively managed, multi-style portfolios. Prior to AT, he was a Senior Vice President and Chief Investment Officer with Country Club Bank, a multi-state financial institution in Kansas City. Previous to Country Club, Mark was Vice President and Senior Investment Officer of the wealth management division of Iowa National Bancshares.

Mark holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance from Iowa State University, Ames, IA. He has obtained the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designations and is a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of Madison.


John McClain, MBA
Vice President, Portfolio Manager

John McClain

As Vice President and Portfolio Manager, John is the manager of the ATSelect Intermediate Bond and Large Core portfolios as well as many key accounts.  He is responsible for coordinating research activities related to equity securities and third-party manager due diligence and is actively involved with the development of the asset allocation strategy for the ATDynamic and ATTrend investment strategies.

John has over 26 years of experience in creating and refining disciplined and prudent investment research and risk analysis processes. He spent several years as the Investment Officer for the $600 million University of Iowa Foundation where he was responsible for overseeing all investment activity, including formulating and implementing investment policy, asset allocation guidelines, and manager selection. Prior to that, he was a long-time Portfolio Manager for Principal Global Investors, managing the Principal’s $1.4B small and mid-cap separate accounts and retail mutual funds. John graduated from the University of Iowa with a BBA in Economics and received his MBA in Finance from the University of Indiana.


Scott Steffen
Second Vice President, Chief Compliance Officer

Scott Steffen

As Second Vice President, Scott oversees ATCapital Management’s team of investment specialists and manages the day-to-day activities of investment accounting and reconciliation, performance reporting, and trading operations. As Chief Compliance Officer, he is also responsible for the implementation and ongoing development of ATCapital Management’s compliance program for our employees, as well as third party investment advisor representatives.

Scott brings over 17 years of client service and compliance experience to ATCapital Management. Prior to joining our firm, he managed 30 executive level client relationships for Prudential Retirement and was accountable for the daily operations of his clients’ institutional retirement plan assets. Additionally, he was integral in the execution of a compliance program for Prudential in Dubuque, Iowa which included the development and implementation of policies and procedures for compliance with FINRA and SEC regulation, communication of policy and regulation change to its registered representatives, review of client/representative correspondence, and preparation for annual compliance audits.

Scott received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from Clarke University in Dubuque, Iowa. He also currently holds the Series 65 securities license.


Christine Murphy
Investment Officer

Christine Murphy

Christine is responsible for various operational functions for our firm including stock and mutual fund trading, calculation of account and strategy performance, and database management. She is also integral in the development and maintenance of our corporate website and Partner Portal. Christine began her professional career with ATCapital Management and its affiliate company, American Trust & Savings Bank, in 2007. Christine graduated magna cum laude from Loras College in Dubuque, IA with B.A. degrees in Accounting and Finance and a minor in Management Information Systems. Her academic achievements warranted her induction into the Delta Epsilon Sigma Honor Society. She currently holds the series 65 securities license.


Bill Neal
Investment Officer

Bill Neal

Bill is responsible for various aspects of our firm’s due diligence process for mutual funds and separate account managers. He screens the universe for mutual funds and managers and conducts the necessary research to bring qualified candidates before the Investment Committee. Bill also conducts research and backtesting for ATCapital Management’s various asset allocation strategies. Additionally, he executes stock and mutual trades. Bill has been working with ATCapital Management since 2007. Prior to that, he worked with Heartland Financial where he was charged with monitoring system data integrity and reconciliation. Bill received his B.A. in Finance from Loras College in Dubuque, IA. He also currently holds the Series 65 securities license.
